Matt Nichols joined Gemvara in February 2011 as Chief Financial Officer and Board Member and was appointed to Chief Executive Officer in 2015. Matt was previously a Principal at Highland Capital Partners where he invested in Gemvara and has served as an advisor since 2007. Through his investments in Gemvara and The OpenSky Project, Matt has become an e-commerce expert. Matt was also active in Highland's investments as a board member or board observer at Pixable (acquired by SingTel), Bullhorn (acquired by Vista Equity), U.S. Search (acquired by Intelius), and Going.com (acquired by AOL). Prior to joining Highland, Matt was a member of Google's corporate development team. Matt also worked at Morgan Stanley Venture Partners, where he invested in Avamar (acquired by EMC), Tarari (acquired by LSI) and Perceptive Software (acquired by Lexmark). Matt was a member of the Google IPO team at Morgan Stanley. Matt's favorite piece on Gemvara is the Slim Pave Band with sapphires and diamonds because he gave it to his wife to celebrate their son's birth, it was his first purchase at Gemvara, and the stones are also Matt's and his wife’s birthstones! Matt was formerly a nationally ranked junior badminton player, but his racquet skills have not transitioned well to the Gemvara ping-pong table, where he seems to lose to almost everybody. Matt received a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Pomona College and an MBA with High Distinction from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Jon Blotner joined Gemvara in the fall of 2012 as Director of Operations and was appointed to President and Chief Operating Officer in 2015. Previously, Jon was a Case Team Leader at Bain and Company where he advised Fortune 500 companies in the technology, consumer products, and retail and e-commerce industries. He also worked in Bain and Company's private equity practice advising top-tier PE firms in the diligence process. Jon's favorite Gemvara piece is the Band of Brilliance as he gave it to his wife to celebrate the birth of their daughter. Jon designed the ring with his daughter's birthstones and his wife's favorite metal. Outside of the office Jon enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and skiing, golfing, surfing, and cooking. Jon earned his B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA at Harvard Business School.
