At Gemvara, we believe that the jewelry you wear should be as unique as you. Every beautiful Gemvara sterling silver iolite jewelry design will be made just for you. Gemvara uses only the highest quality materials to craft your sterling silver iolite jewelry with meticulous attention to detail. Our precious metals are recycled or responsibly mined. Iolite is the gem of exploration. When Leif Eriksson and the other legendary Viking explorers ventured far into the Atlantic, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun to navigate safely to the new world and back. Gemvara's iolite is carefully oriented and cut for maximum brilliance. Iolite is the gem of the 21st anniversary. A noble metal with a cool white tone, sterling silver develops a patina over time. If you prefer a bright finish, polish will restore its shine. Our wide selection of sterling silver iolite jewelry by Ruzanna Davtian, Bijoux & Bijoux, Tony Rodrigues, and other talented designers means you can find rings, earrings, and necklaces that are exactly your style. You can also shop by style, choosing our Flower, Classic, or Mothers Collections. When our work is done and you open that box, you'll see your design is even more beautiful when brought to life in the finest precious materials.
While designer Carl Ansley is inspired by the natural world, you'll see it most in the line and proportion of his modern pieces rather than in traditional motifs. Throughout his 22 year-career, which began at Tiffany & Co., Carl has developed a deep appreciation for the artistic process behind creating gorgeous, eye-catching jewelry. Form follows function but doesn't overwhelm it. For example, because rings can twist on the finger, he creates a natural curve high on a ring's shoulders so it will rest comfortably on the finger next to it. He takes great care to create jewelry that makes a bold statement in order to express a woman's own style and personality. Carl says the greatest accomplishment of his long career is designing and crafting his wife's diamond engagement ring and wedding band. It's just what you'd expect from a designer who thinks first of the woman who will wear his jewelry.
Exploration is the meaning attached to the iolite gemstone. This term comes from the tale of Leif Eriksson. When he and other legendary Viking explores ventured into the Atlantic searching for the new world, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun in order to navigate safely. This technique was made possible due to iolite's plechoism: its ability to display a different color for each different direction. It is violet blue from one angle, clear as water from another and a honey yellow from the top. This characteristic makes it difficult to cut an iolite because in the wrong shape, iolite's color will not be properly displayed. The color of an iolite is its most important value factor: the more pure and saturated the blue, the more valuable the iolite is. Historically called the "water sapphire," an iolite is a charming, blue gem with a steely hue that resembles the color of the ocean at dawn. Iolite is the gem of the 21st anniversary. All Gemvara jewelry is made to order, which ensures that a premium-quality iolite will be hand-selected to perfectly suit your design. Crafted in the United States, Gemvara's fine iolite jewelry is precious and personal, surely to be passed down for generations to come.
