Jeet Palavwala designs sophisticated dimensional jewelry that is like sculpture in precious metal and gems. His stunning lotus ring was the winner of our first international design competition. Although Jeet is from Surat, India, the city where most of the world's diamonds are cut and polished, he began his career designing machine tools. Before long he began using technology to design jewelry instead, naming his jewelry design studio Neviell. By combining his love of art with his a strong technical background, Jeet discovered that creating jewelry was his passion, or as he describes it, his "destiny." Always challenging his mind to think in new ways, he enjoys bringing new jewelry design ideas to life each day.
The gem of peace and sobriety, the name "amethyst" comes from a Greek the word meaning "not drunken." According to the ancient Greeks, this wine-colored gem had the power to keep you sober. Amethyst is often used in religious settings as a symbol of piety and celibacy. Tibetan Buddhists meditate using amethyst rosaries to calm the mind and Bishop's rings often feature an amethyst. Color is the most important element in amethyst quality: the more vibrant and bright the lavender purple hue, the more valuable the amethyst. Gemvara's amethyst is a rich purple that complements both warm and cool colors. A well-cut amethyst is also important because the right cut will maximize the color and well as allow the amethyst to sparkle in the light. Amethyst is the February birthstone and the 6th and 17th anniversary gem. All Gemvara jewelry is made to order, which ensures that a premium-quality amethyst will be hand-selected to perfectly suit your design. Crafted in the United States, Gemvara's fine amethyst jewelry is precious and personal, surely to be passed down for generations to come.
