About Iolite Necklaces by Carl Ansley
At Gemvara, we believe that the iolite necklaces you wear should be precious because they're personal. All our stylish necklaces are made just for you, in your choice of gems and precious metals. Add your own meaning to every design, creating beautiful memories and brilliant reminders. It's jewelry for all life's occasions, from a birthday or Valentine's Day to your own personal milestones and celebrations. Pendants with symbolism, like circles, keys, hearts, initials, and knots are as personal as they are fashionable. Gemvara uses only the highest quality materials to craft our iolite necklaces with meticulous attention to detail. Our precious metals are recycled or responsibly mined. Our growing selection of iolite necklaces by Ruzanna Davtian, Jeet Palavwala, Damon Washington, and other talented designers means you can find a necklace that's exactly your style. Slate blue iolite was once known as "water sapphire" for its less-intense blue color. Iolite is difficult to cut since it is different colors when viewed in different directions. Gemvaras iolite is carefully oriented and cut for maximum brilliance. Iolite is the 21st anniversary gem. All Gemvara pendants are available with your choice of chain style and length or no chain at all if that's what you prefer. The most popular chain length is 18 inches, which works with many necklines. Clean iolite necklaces with mild dish soap: use a soft brush where dust collects. Gemvara's fine quality iolite necklaces are designed to be passed down for generations to come, crafted by hand in the United States.
While designer Carl Ansley is inspired by the natural world, you'll see it most in the line and proportion of his modern pieces rather than in traditional motifs. Throughout his 22 year-career, which began at Tiffany & Co., Carl has developed a deep appreciation for the artistic process behind creating gorgeous, eye-catching jewelry. Form follows function but doesn't overwhelm it. For example, because rings can twist on the finger, he creates a natural curve high on a ring's shoulders so it will rest comfortably on the finger next to it. He takes great care to create jewelry that makes a bold statement in order to express a woman's own style and personality. Carl says the greatest accomplishment of his long career is designing and crafting his wife's diamond engagement ring and wedding band. It's just what you'd expect from a designer who thinks first of the woman who will wear his jewelry.
Exploration is the meaning attached to the iolite gemstone. This term comes from the tale of Leif Eriksson. When he and other legendary Viking explores ventured into the Atlantic searching for the new world, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun in order to navigate safely. This technique was made possible due to iolite's plechoism: its ability to display a different color for each different direction. It is violet blue from one angle, clear as water from another and a honey yellow from the top. This characteristic makes it difficult to cut an iolite because in the wrong shape, iolite's color will not be properly displayed. The color of an iolite is its most important value factor: the more pure and saturated the blue, the more valuable the iolite is. Historically called the "water sapphire," an iolite is a charming, blue gem with a steely hue that resembles the color of the ocean at dawn. Iolite is the gem of the 21st anniversary. All Gemvara jewelry is made to order, which ensures that a premium-quality iolite will be hand-selected to perfectly suit your design. Crafted in the United States, Gemvara's fine iolite jewelry is precious and personal, surely to be passed down for generations to come.
