Exploration is the meaning attached to the iolite gemstone. This term comes from the tale of Leif Eriksson. When he and other legendary Viking explores ventured into the Atlantic searching for the new world, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun in order to navigate safely.
