About Iolite Jewelry by Judy Evans From $1,250 to $1,749
At Gemvara, we believe that the jewelry you wear should be one of a kind, like you. That's why we make each piece to order, one at a time, just the way you want it. Choose garnet and white gold or black diamond and palladium: it's your choice. Mix and match gems and precious metals for a look that's exactly you. It's jewelry for all life's occasions, from a wedding or anniversary to your own personal milestones and celebrations. Gemvara uses only the highest quality materials to craft your iolite jewelry design with meticulous attention to detail. Our precious metals are recycled or responsibly mined. Iolite is the gem of exploration. When Leif Eriksson and the other legendary Viking explorers ventured far into the Atlantic, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun to navigate safely to the new world and back. Gemvara's iolite is carefully oriented and cut for maximum brilliance. Iolite is the gem of the 21st anniversary. Our wide selection of iolite jewelry by Paul Bierker, Judy Evans, Stephanie Satow, and other talented designers means you can find jewelry that's exactly your style. You can also shop by style, choosing our Key, Our Picks, or Classic Collections. Gemvara's fine quality iolite jewelry is designed to be passed down for generations to come, crafted by hand in the United States.
Judy Evans is an internationally recognized jewelry designer with more than 17 national and international design awards, from De Beers Diamonds International to the AGTA Spectrum Award and the Johnson Matthey Platinum Design Competition. You may have seen her work in the collections of major brands. Her style is recognizable, but not predictable, with feminine curves and breathtaking dimension. "Design should evolve, not simply follow trends," she says. "My work has been dedicated to showing there is no limit to creativity. Why interpret another's style when you can stand apart with your own?" Her designs are lovely from every angle, with details and surprises that you'll enjoy every time you look closely at one of her pieces. The hand-painted renderings she creates of each design concept are as beautiful as the jewelry they so evocatively bring to life.
Exploration is the meaning attached to the iolite gemstone. This term comes from the tale of Leif Eriksson. When he and other legendary Viking explores ventured into the Atlantic searching for the new world, they used a naturally polarizing iolite lens to determine the exact position of the sun in order to navigate safely. This technique was made possible due to iolite's plechoism: its ability to display a different color for each different direction. It is violet blue from one angle, clear as water from another and a honey yellow from the top. This characteristic makes it difficult to cut an iolite because in the wrong shape, iolite's color will not be properly displayed. The color of an iolite is its most important value factor: the more pure and saturated the blue, the more valuable the iolite is. Historically called the "water sapphire," an iolite is a charming, blue gem with a steely hue that resembles the color of the ocean at dawn. Iolite is the gem of the 21st anniversary. All Gemvara jewelry is made to order, which ensures that a premium-quality iolite will be hand-selected to perfectly suit your design. Crafted in the United States, Gemvara's fine iolite jewelry is precious and personal, surely to be passed down for generations to come.
