Damon Washington
Although Damon Washington majored in art, it was football that first put him in the spotlight. He excelled as a running back, first for Colorado State and later for the New York Giants. As a player, he began to collect jewelry, marveling at the detail and craftsmanship concentrated in something so small. After he left the NFL, he decided to turn his interest in jewelry into a career, studying jewelry design at the Gemological Institute of America. Today this renaissance man has his own jewelry design company, called Damon 2029, after the numbers he wore on the field. He is often inspired by artwork, his own or the work of masters, and colors and emotion help drive his design process. His jewelry has a bold flair worthy of his warrior spirit. As you might expect, Damon has designed jewelry for many NFL players, including Ron Dayne, Clark Haggans, Travis Laboy, James Farrior, Ron Dixon, and Thabiti Davis.
